We built Valido because two data engineers got tired of spending their weekends debugging pipelines that should have been running on autopilot. We believe every data team deserves confidence in their numbers — without spending half their week validating them manually.
The Beginning
From frustration to foundation
In late 2019, Sarah Chen and Marcus Thorne were working at a fast-growing fintech startup. They loved the data, but they hated the noise. Every Friday afternoon, a critical pipeline would fail, and they’d spend the weekend hunting down the root cause. It was a cycle of alert fatigue and manual triage that threatened to stall their product roadmap.
The "Why"
They realized that data quality wasn't a "nice-to-have" — it was a blocker to innovation. They started building a tool in a spare bedroom to catch anomalies before they reached production. What started as a weekend project quickly evolved into a solution that could scale.
In 2020, they quit their jobs to found Valido. Their mission was simple: make data quality proactive, not reactive.
The Growth
Since launching, we've grown from a two-person team to a global organization serving over 500 data teams. We've raised a Series A, opened offices in Austin and Amsterdam, and helped companies save millions by preventing bad data from entering their systems.
But we haven't lost sight of our roots. We still answer support tickets ourselves, and we still believe that building great software requires building great relationships.

2020
Founded. Sarah and Marcus launch Valido with a single focus: automated data validation.
2021
First 100 Customers. We hit our first major milestone, proving that the market for proactive data quality was ready.
2022
Series A. We raise $12M from Vertex Ventures and Horizon Ventures to expand our engineering team.
2023
500+ Customers. We scale globally, reaching teams in Europe, Asia, and North America.
2024
Global Expansion. We open our second hub in Amsterdam and launch our AI-driven root-cause analysis.
2025
